The Do-Not-Call Registry

Solicitation phone calls are generally unwelcomed by most Americans. They are often disruptive and inconvenient. In 2008 the federal government enacted The Do-Not-Call Improvement Act, which makes it against the law for a company to make a telemarketing call to registered phone number.

Individuals wishing to register can do so online at www.donotcall.gov. Registrants simply enter the phone number and email address. Solicitation phone calls should cease within 31 days of registration. The registration never expires. If solicitors continue to call after a phone number has been registered, an individual can file a complaint  on the web site.
